This official run is always an excellent one. It's set on lovely grounds and there are always interesting, and quite different, vehicles in attendance. MCMA had about 12 vehicles on display, with three of these winning trophies - Mick's Lincoln Continental (Best Amercian), Trevor and Veronica's FJ Holden Ute (Best Australian) and Richard's Honda CB750 (Best Bike.

Ten riders, drivers and passengers spent four nights at the Railway Barracks and three days riding from Binnaway. The first ride was to Gilgandra and return, the second to Boggabri and return, and the third to Spring Ridge and return. We travelled 832 kilometres mostly on gravel roads. This event is an annual one, and one of our best.

This great event has resumed and was as good as ever. It originally started as MADD - motor appreciation day last century. Lots of interesting vehicles including hot rods and modifieds. There were very few bikes on show, however. Seems as though veteran and vintage car attendance is also in decline, although some were hot rods. About 10% of the slightly more than 250 vehicles displayed were MCMA cars.

2023-02 Maitland Show Grand Parade

Under heat wave conditions we participated in the Maitland Show Grand Parade on February 18th along with some Harley Davidsons, MGs and lawnmowers. We had 24 vehicles representing MCMA that were led in the parade by our flag bearer, Mick, in his Holden Maloo. The organisation of the event was a little questionable and MCMA showed everyone how to do it with cars in order, oldest to newest. Additionally, each car its own story which was printed and read by the commentator.

The open day at Luskintyre Airfield was a great success for all. MCMA had an impressive representation of historic vehicles to complement the Tiger Moths and other historic aircraft. Rotary provided an excellent barbeque. The day was greatly appreciated by all who attended.

Westrac's hospitality was again enjoyed in December with a display of about 30 club vehicles. Members were very grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to inspect the Westrac plant. Many thanks to Les for organising the display, and to Veronica and Gabes for the photos.

Our one day local rides continue in 2023 with this ride led by Norm. We 'chased' the gravel through Sawyers Gully, Nulkaba, Pokolbin, Cedar Creek, Wollombi, Laguna, Kulnera, Watagan State Forest and Cooranbong. Despite two closed service stations (re-fills?), a long wait for lunch, a closed forestry road and a minor 'spill' it was a great ride of 260 kilometres whilst the support vehicles did 300 kilometres.

Our Christmas Party at Telarah Bowling Club was another great event with 79 in attendance. A two course traditional Christmas lunch (main and dessert) was prepared and served by Kelly and her staff. It was excellent. Sadly we have to farewell Kelly and her team as they are moving on. We played some trivia games - Australian cars, famous Australians, and Australian rock anthems. The raffle raised over $1000 for our charities. Santa visited and gave away the raffle prizes that were kindly donated by our sponsors.

MCMA had 31 vehicles displayed in Swan Street on Sunday and 4 vehicles displayed at Closebourne House on Saturday. Nearly every one of these vehicles is in this album.

2022-11 Repco Centenary Show n Shine

Repco has been operating for 100 years.. These days, probably better know for motoring retail. In previous decades Repco had a huge reputation for automotive engineering, culminating in the World Drivers' Champioship winning Repco Brabhams of 1966 and 1967. MCMA was invited to display vehicles at their Rutherford store on Saturday November 5th as part of the celebrations. Twenty cars were displayed attracting quite a deal of interest with Saturday morning shoppers in the Rutherford complex.

We toured the region including Mittagong, Bowral, Berrima, Robertson and Moss Vale. This album shares photos of the MCMA peo[ple who participated in this tour.

This was our Spring Overnighter for 2022. We visited Hunter Valley Gardens for morning tea at A Taste of Country, then travelled the Putty Road to Windsor where we had lunch at Windsor RSL . Here we also visited the Hawkesbury Museum and then drove to Richmond staying at the Colonial Motel with dinner at RG McGee's Hotel. Breakfast was at the Bank Emporium Cafe and Bar. We travelled to Wiseman’s Ferry along the Hawkesbury River through Wilberforce and Sackville. This was a fabulous drive. After lunch we continued our drive through Spencer, Central Mangrove, Kulnera, Laguna and Wollombi. A total of 460 kilometres of winding country road was completed with no motorways in sight.

Broke Village Fair is back to its former glory - lots of interesting cars and a few bikes and trucks, a big crowd and lots to see, do and sample. We were joined by the Upper Hunter Motoring Association for breakfast and lunch where we catered for 100 people. MCMA had 43 vehicles on display - 35 cars and 2 motorcycles. All are presented in these two albums. A big thank you is extended to Alan, Lindsay, Gary, Andrew, Angie, Sue, and Mandie and Peter for their help with cooking our barbeques. 21% of our members were in attendance. This event was one of our most successful.

2022-09 Annual Concourse Show n Shine Presentations

This was an excellent event with about 100 vehicles displayed and about 150 participants. Due to COVID this has been our first concourse show 'n shine since 2019. The variety of vehicles in our club is amazing, as is the quality of the vehicles. Members received a free barbeque breakfast and lunch. We had a coffee van in attendance, a raffle earning $420 for our charities (Little Wings and Riding for the Disabled), and Mick's stall selling club and other memorabilia. Due to the rain and wet grounds, we had difficulty sourcing a venue. Tocal College was very accommodating and flexible in their offer of a carpark which was an excellent venue. We hope to return in 2023. This album features the presentations.

This years event attracted 36 members in 18 cars. We stayed 3 nights in Mudgee at The Soldiers' Motel and on three evening enjoyed the hospitality of The Soldiers' Club. Both are highly recommended. Travel to Mudgee was via teh Bylong Valley Way and Rylstone, with its outstanding yum cha lunch and the Lue Pub with its open fire, a welcome sight on Friday afternoon. Most of Sauturday was spent at Gulgong with participation in the Henry Lawson Festival parade and celebrations. Sunday saw us of the road again visiting Sofala for morning tea, Hill End for lunch and returning via Hargraves in the afternoon. Members returned on Monday in the finest of weather, mostly on the Golden Highway through Merriwa and Denman. This was another of our fabulous weekends away.

Our Mudgee Long Weekend was all about driving our historic cars and enjoying times with club members. The photos here were mostly taken in Gulgong and Hill End - former gold mining towns. People in the photos taken on Saturday and Sunday were 'all rugged up' due to the low temperatures and the chilly winds. Our travel days, Friday and Monday, were much milder.

Euro Motorfest was held on June 26th after being postponed because of last week's rain. Again, it was very successful with the organisers reporting 250 cars on display. Interestingly, more and more newer cars, especially exotics, are appearing at these shows. It is no longer the domain of historics and classics. Around noon a Torana SLR5000 turned up, but didn't stay very long. There is always someone!!!

On Thurdsay we travelled to Crowdy Head for breakfast on the beach and some whale-watching, followed by morning tea at Old Bar (and more whale-watching) and lunch at Wingham. There was no interest in making this an official MCMA club run, but Mick attended in his Holden Calais. The run departed Old Berowra Toll Area at 9:00 am sharp and followed the Old Pacific Highway to Swansea with lunch at the Workers’ Club. Mick reported that it was a great event with about 75 vehicles participating and recommended that the club consider this event in the future.

MCMA members were invited to display historic vehicles at this absolutely wonderful day. Only five vehicles were displayed - Ian's two BMW R75s, Neil's VW Synchro, Mick's Austin and Ian's Rover. Three other members attended and like us had a great day. Such an event is strongly recommended whenever it re-occurs. There is non-stop entertainment and heaps of displays, food and relaxing drinks.

2022-04 Off-the-Bitumen rides from Binnaway

During the last week of March eleven of us ventured to Binnaway in the Central West. We stayed at the restored railway barracks which proved ideal for our needs. Wherever possible our rides were on gravel with us riding about 800 kms in three days. We rode to Gulgong and return, Gilgandra and return and Spring Ridge and return. This was fabulous riding and we have decided to make this an annual ride.

Recovering from the necessary COVID-19 restrictions, 'nostalgia' was on this year. It is a 'la nina' summer and very wet. Numbers were a little lower, as were the displays and the entertainment. However, it was a good MCMA display with 10 club vehicles on show.

2022-01 Australia Day Breakfast and Display MANY MAKES

Our Australia Day Breakfast and Display was very successful. Our display was exclusively for cars made/manufactured, bodied or assembled in Australia. The theme was "what we used to be able to make". Our oldest car was Kevin's 1913 Australian-bodied Fiat and the youngest Ian's 2006 Australian- made/manufactured Holden Adventra. This album features the many makes (except Holdens) that were displayed at Telarah Bowling Club on Australia Day morning..

2021-12 Off-the-bitumen rides based at Mount Seaview Resort

We arrived at Mount Seaview Resort well after 2:00 pm. Seaview is 60 kms west of Wauchope on the Mid North Coast. On Thursday, we brought our own thermos and had morning tea in the bush with some Christmas cake and pudding. Lunch (salad sandwiches) was provided by the Seaview cafe/restaurant. Everyone had a map and after an early start, we went north on Forbes River Road and tried to get to Bellbrook. A deep creek crossing with a steep slippery bank (see photos) forced a change of plan with us riding via Mounts Boss and Banda Banda to Wilsons River for lunch. The road was closed! Having previously enjoyed morning tea at Cameron's Camp, we dined there again for lunch.150 kilometres of mostly gravel trails was enjoyed by all. Despite plans to go up the Oxley Highway and south down Knodingbul Road towards Wingham and return, wet weather forced an early pack up and return home.

Our Mid-Week Christmas Party on Wednesday December 22nd attracted 21 members and associates.. We met at Bakers Cottage at 10:30 am for morning tea and then left a little after 11:00 am for Williams River Cafe at Clarencetown, to arrive around noon. Wayne and Marc prepared an excellent two course lunch (a main and dessert) as they have done so for us over a number years. Our club is sincerely appreciative of Wayne and Marc's friendship and hospitality.

2021-12 December Christmas Party

We have two three Christmas Parties each year - Christmas in July, Christmas in December, and our Mid-Week Christmas Party also in December. Our Christmas Party on Sunday December 19th had 93 booked, although due to concerns about the local COVID outbreak, 87 attended. We met Telarah Bowling Club at 10:30 am for a short run through Keinbah, Greta, Elderslie, Luskintyre and Lochinvar arriving back at the TBC at 12:00 noon for a Christmas drink followed by a traditional two course hot lunch at 12:30 pm. We were entertained by member John Milburn who played guitar favourites and some Christmas carols, including two that we sang along with. We played three options games with boxes of chocolates for the winners, and drew the raffles. There were many fabulous prizes won, and our charities (Riding for the Disabled and Little Wings) benefited to the tune of $640.

2021-10 Bobs Folly Farewell
9Photos
This was our first post-lockdown run. We farewelled the Bobs and Hector on their folly. We met at Bakers Cottage for coffee and then to St Mary’s Anglican Church for a short service and blessing of the Rolls Royce. This was 'a bit of a shock' for some of our members! About 40 members in 23 cars then followed the Rolls Royce for a trip to Wollombi with lunch at The Tavern and Myrtle House Cafe. Mid afternoon, the Bobs and Hector departed for Broke (overnight) escorted by Gordon (Citroen) and Ian (Rover). The Bobs and Hector will tour western Victoria and South Australia (hopefully) before returning mid-November for our Nundle 'off-the-bitumen' bike rides. The Rolls will later be shipped to the United Kingdom where it will be re-united with Bob for the Rolls Royce centenary celebrations of the launch of the 20 hp model.

2021-07 Poker Run

This Sunday July 18th event is our first poker run for many years. These are always a challenge because large parking areas are needed for each deal. Sunday football stole some of the better carparks, but we persisted. Thirty-seven people attended and the winners of a box of chocolates each were Meagan Garland (three kings), Barb Elphick (three jacks) and Mick Walton (three 10s). Lunch was at The Beatty Hotel at East Gresford and was very well-received by members. Rusty Bucket played many '60s and '70s covers and were very popular with members.

2021-07 Logans Car Show and Family Fun Day

MCMA supported Logan’s Car Show and Family Fun Day, at Jefferson Park Aberdeen, on Sunday July 25th. This was a fund-raiser to support a very worthy cause (Logan). It was a cold and windy day, however 9 club cars ventured 'up the valley'. Quite a number of other clubs also displayed their vehicles; probably close to 75 in total. Our club won a few trophies - Alex's Corvette for Best American and Barry's Peugeot for Best European. Members also won a few raffle prizes.

Twelve vehicles and 23 people participated in this excellent run. On Saturday we drove via The Lakes' Way with morning tea at The Frothy Coffee on Smith's Lake, then through Forster to lunch at Laurieton Ex-Services Club. We then cruised along the beaches of Bonny Hills and Lake Cathie to Port Macquarie where we stayed for two nights. On Sunday we had morning tea at Richardoes' Tomato Farm then visited Crescent Head before having lunch at the Seabreeze Beach Hotel at South West Rocks and returning through Kempsey. On Sunday we spent the morning and lunch at Timbertown before venturing home on the A1. On Saturday evening we all had a dinner at The Westport Club and on Sunday evening people chose to 'do their own thing' as there were many restaurants close to our accommodation. Garry, Sue, Brett and Margaret extended their trip to include the tablelands and slopes reporting great weather and a great time.

2021-06 Eurofest on Newcastle Foreshore

This year's event was well attended under very fine skies, with many vehicle manufacturers represented. There were some notable exceptions such as Lancia, Citroen, Saab, Rolls Royce, Riley, Armstrong Sidderley and Renault. Organisation and registration, given the new COVID-19 restrictions, were excellent. Disappointingly, the same could not be said for the presentation and egress from The Foreshore Park. Eight MCMA vehicles (5 British, 1 French, 1 Italian and 1 German) were displayed with club banners and flags.

2021-05 Feast and Furious, Maitland Showground

This is the first Feast and Furious in Maitland. The club had 15 vehicles on show which was the biggest of the attending clubs. There were about 24 stalls, mostly food, and some rides. Despite the negative forecast the weather was generally fine and the attendance by the general public was surprisingly good. We hope that this becomes an annual event.

2021-05 Autumn Overnighter around Tamworth People

This was our first 'Overnighter'. The idea is to travel to a close region over 2 days, driving on country roads, and staying overnight. We departed Maitland on Wednesday October 19th quite early with some having breakfast at Bakers Cottage as early as 6:30 am. We drove to Gloucester (morning tea), with comfort stops at Carson's Lookout and Nowendoc. Lunch was enjoyed at Nundle, where there was also some shopping. In the afternoon we drove to Tamworth via Goonoo Goonoo. We stayed in the CBD and dined at The Services' Club. On Thursday October 20th we had breakfast at the motel, then visited Oxley Scenic Lookout, the Motorcycle Museum and the Power Station Museum. Some of us did even more shopping! Leaving Tamworth we drove to Quirindi, taking a gravel road detour due to a truck accident. At Quirindi, lunch and an inspection was greatly enjoyed at Bob's Shed.

Seven (7) club members participated in this ride. We stayed at the cabins, adjacent to Wollombi Tavern. On Monday we rode via The Convict Road to St Albans and Wiseman's Ferry (lunch), and return. Regrettably, the planned ride on Tuesday to the Putty Road via Big Yengo Trail was abandoned because of the wet weather. Our next 'off-the-bitumen' ride will be based at Nundle mid-week in the week beginning March 15th.

MCMA members were invited to display an interesting range of vehicles on The Levee on October 24th. By invitation, vehicles manufactured in Australia, Britain, Japan, countries of the European Union and the USA, from the 1920s to the 1980s, were displayed in all of their glory. This was an excellent event. Despite the rain, there were many lookers, and for once a vast majority were families and members of the general public.

On Sunday March 1st, Morpeth Motorama was held under perfect skies. It was reminiscent of the old days when people flocked to the Motor Appreciation Day before it moved on. On Sunday there were thousands of people, hundreds of cars and 22 trophies to be won. There were many interesting vehicles in what was a very successful day. It will be repeated in future years. The organisers donated $600 to MCMA charities in recognition of our help and support on and before the event.

MCMA has been staying at Orchard Lodge, between Moonan Flat and Ellerston in the Upper Hunter Valley, for over 20 years. This month there where 21 riders and drivers who braved the drought breaking rains. On Saturday we rode/drove 220 kilometres across Barrington Tops to Gloucester and return. It was very wet. On Sunday we rode/drove to Glenrock (70 kilometres) before turning back because of flooded causeways. John ventured to Nundle via Timor and return (180 kilometres). It was even wetter.

MCMA has been attending the Bathurst 12 Hour for over a decade, especially since the adoption of the European GT3 format since 2013. Five members attending were Doug, Cheryl, Tony, Gordon and Ian. We have a permanent booking of a two storey terrace in the CBD. This year's race was fabulous (as usual), despite the heat and dust. After 12 hours and on the same lap, first was a Bentley, second a McLaren and third a Mercedes Benz.
