1974 BMW R90/6

John Milburn

Having owned the BMW R 90/6 for 5 years and having ridden it regularly, it was always in my mind to respray it.

Practically every piece of it had already been pulled apart and refurbished including forks, the top end of the motor, brakes, carburettors, wheels and cables.

While the first few photos look OK, the condition of the paint and chrome was sketchy to say the least. But now for the big pull apart, respray and rechrome.

Below is my original bike then with the tank and seat off and ready for the “full monty”.

There is nothing like a good de-grease and clean, then everything is ready to go to Hunter Valley Smash Repairs and Hamilton Chrome.

Now for the reconstruction. I love the frame and pin striping. And the end result. Better than ‘off the showroom floor’.
