2022-06 Autumn Overnighter to Harrington
Fifteen people in eight cars (see photos) left Bakers' Cottage at 8:30 am with a Bulahdelah comfort stop, then Seal Rocks (morning tea at the Single Fin Cafe) and Forster (lunch at Club Forster). On the way we visited the Green Cathedral and Cape Hawke. After lunch we visited Halliday's Point for afternoon tea and the Harrington Lookout before retiring to our motel. Dinner was at the Harrington Pub and their ales, dinner and courtesy bus were greatly appreciated. On Thurdsay we travelled to Crowdy Head for breakfast on the beach and some whale-watching, followed by morning tea at Old Bar (and more whale-watching) and lunch at Wingham. Return journey home was through Gloucester, Stroud and Clarencetown.
- Gayle and Graeme, MCMA members and now Harrington residents, met us for Wednesday dinner, Thursday breakfast and whale-watching at Crowdy Head. They provided us with great company and local advice. We decided to make this 'overnighter' and annual with the next one in spring 2023.
- Ken with a joking Vicki and her 1971 Datsun 1600. This car always generates lots of interest on the road and when displayed. They were a very successful model for Datsun (Nissan) in the late '60s and early '70s.
- Graeme and Janelle and their Mercedes Coupe - a very attractive, reliable, comfortable and fast touring car.
- Graeme and Jill with their Ford Fairlane. This is a very stately vehicle that represents the quality of what Australia could design and build. Such cars would have been a common sight around Parliament House in the 1990s as ministerial cars.
- Jill, Vicki, Janelle, Mary, Barb, Graeme, Dave, Ken, Graeme and Graeme at Crowdy Head, having a break from whale-watching.
- Turning around from their whale-watching, the camera has captured Narelle, Janelle, Jill, Mary, Vicki and Sandra.
- Narelle and David with thier 1988 Mercedes Benz, one of the numerous 1980s 'Benzes' in our diverse club.
- Neil and Sandra with Neil's 1990 VW Synchro, a very sought after and valuable model.
- Mary and Dave with their fabulous 1963 Jaguar Mark II. This car, and of course Mary and Dave, added a touch of elegance to our 'overnighter'.
- Bill and Barb with a more recent 'touch of elegance' - their 1990 Mercedes Benz 500SL.
- Braving the chiily winds at the Single Fin Cafe at Seal Rocks is Narelle, David, Bill and Barb.
- Ian with the 'much travelled' Presidential Rover. This British classic has travelled 93 000 kilometres in Ian's ownership since 2014 and visited every Australian captial city (and beyond).
- Mary, Dave, Ken, and Bill spotting all the classic cars in barns from the Brushy Cutting Lookout near Wingham.
- Neil, Sandra and Narelle seem to found their 'dream car' as they scan the floodplain below Brushy Cutting Lookout.
- Dave, Ken, Graeme, Mary, Janelle and Jill on the deck of the Single Fin Cafe and General Store above the fabulous 'boat beach', at Seal Rocks.
- A line-up of suspects in the car park at 'main beach', Seal Rocks. The Presidential Rover makes an appearance in the left backgound. Seal Rocks is a fabulous place.
- Barb, David, Graeme, Jill, Narelle, and Bill enjoying lunch at Club Forster. Out of the wind and a lovely lunch with a soothing drink, eased to stresses of the road.
- Club suspects clowning around as we try to set up a photograph at Burgess Point, Forster. Sometimes these events are akin to 'herding cats'.
- All together and behaving appropriately, our Autumn Overnighter group are all class at Burgess Point, Forster.
- Another spot of whale-watching, a quick turn around, and 'click' - another lovely photograph of our members enjoying the Mid-North Coast, here at the southern end of Burgess Beach, Forster.
- After breakfast at Crowdy Bay, our group was up and peering out to sea. The fabulous view was appreciated by all for much of the morning, as the camera captures another fabulous view - our members enjoying the sights, sounds and the camaraderie of others. Here we meet Graeme, Ken, Vicki, Mary, Dave, Graeme, Graeme (member and Harrington resident) and Ross (member and Harrington resident).
