2021-12 Off-the-bitumen rides based at Mount Seaview Resort
We arrived at Mount Seaview Resort well after 2:00 pm. Seaview is 60 kms west of Wauchope on the Mid North Coast. On Thursday, we brought our own thermos and had morning tea in the bush with some Christmas cake and pudding. Lunch (salad sandwiches) was provided by the Seaview cafe/restaurant. Everyone had a map and after an early start, we went north on Forbes River Road and tried to get to Bellbrook. A deep creek crossing with a steep slippery bank (see photos) forced a change of plan with us riding via Mounts Boss and Banda Banda to Wilsons River for lunch. The road was closed! Having previously enjoyed morning tea at Cameron's Camp, we dined there again for lunch.150 kilometres of mostly gravel trails was enjoyed by all. Despite plans to go up the Oxley Highway and south down Knodingbul Road towards Wingham and return, wet weather forced an early pack up and return home.- Wednesday evening, in anticipation of two days riding, we all sat around with clean and shining bikes for a few drinks. Ian and Norm have spotted the camera.
- Friday morning, after rain all night, we dicided to cut our losses and pack up. Bob, Greg, Ian Chris are all smiles, despite the showers.
- In between showers, the pack-up contines with Ian, Norm and Peter.
- On Forbes River Road, on Thursday, this log proved a challenge for our support vehicle, ably driven by Bob. We solved the problem on our return journey.
- Deep creek crossings and steep slippery banks are 'a piece of cake' for Chris on his Suzuki DR650. Not so for Ian's Ural!
- Morning tea at the national park's workshop site in Werrikimbe National Park. This is Cameron's Camp. It's a pity that this lovely area is no longer available to the general public, for despite the facilities, it is protected by a locked gate.
- On the return journey on Forbes River Road, we were again confronted by this fallen log. The solution, rather quite simple, is shown in the next photograph.
- Thanks to Norm, the support vehicle was able to safely pass under the threatening fallen log, much to everyone's relief.
- After 150 kilometres of mostly gravel trails, John, Peter, Chris, Ian and Norm relax with some 'cool ales'.
- Likewise, Bob and Greg enjoy the comforts of the resort after those 150 kilometres of mostly dusty roads.
- Ian rarely appears in photos, as he is generally the photographer. Every now and again he 'shoots off a selfie'. Bob, Peter, Chris and Ian complete this scene of relaxation, punctuated by a few 'really tall stories'.
