2021-05 Autumn Overnighter around Tamworth Cars
This was our first 'Overnighter'. The idea is to travel to a close region over 2 days, driving on country roads, and staying overnight. We departed Maitland on Wednesday October 19th quite early with some having breakfast at Bakers Cottage as early as 6:30 am. We drove to Gloucester (morning tea), with comfort stops at Carson's Lookout and Nowendoc. Lunch was enjoyed at Nundle, where there was also some shopping. In the afternoon we drove to Tamworth via Goonoo Goonoo. We stayed in the CBD and dined at The Services' Club. On Thursday October 20th we had breakfast at the motel, then visited Oxley Scenic Lookout, the Motorcycle Museum and the Power Station Museum. Some of us did even more shopping! Leaving Tamworth we drove to Quirindi, taking a gravel road detour due to a truck accident. At Quirindi, lunch and an inspection was greatly enjoyed at Bob's Shed.- Graeme's Mercedes Benz, Ken's BMW, Tony's Rover, Ian's Rover, Greg's Torana and John's Statesman ready to depart Bakers' Cottage early on Wednesday morning.
